THE APPEARANCE OF MODERN POKER |
Throughout the centuries the game of Poker has been growing in popularity, but it really came in fashion in 1970 during the first edition of the World Series of Poker. Champions like Doyle Brunson, Johnny Moss, and Amarillo Slim became world known. First books on the strategy of poker written by the leading experts of the game make their first appearances. For instance “The Bible of Poker: Super System” by Doyle Brunson (written in collaboration with Chip Reese), “The Book of Tells” by Mike Caro, and finally “The Theory of Poker” by David Slansky. Today these three books are still considered as references in their field. |
THE DEVELOPMENT OF POKER DURING THE 2000’s |
The game of Poker sees its unprecedented popularity the day it became transmitted live on the TV with the invention of cameras that show the cards held buy players. |
THE HOLD’EM NO LIMIT : the fashionable variation. |
Several Poker games dominate the modern poker scene. Before the arrival of the television the most famous form of Poker was the STUD. However since several years one particular variation stands out for being the most telegenic of others: the HOLD’EM NO LIMIT. 99% of all the poker players play almost exclusively this variation of the game. That’s why virtually all the new players assimilate the game of Poker to the HOLD’EM NO LIMIT. |
